    Thanks for the reply. Wordpress uses a MySQL database and the database I need to connect to is a MS SQL 2005 database that is interactive. I have all the connection details but do not know how to construct the connection string and query using PHP. I hope that answers you questions.

    Hi I am creating a wordpress site that when someone registers and clicks the submit button, I need to be able to connect to a SQL database hosted elsewhere and check data in that database against data supplied on the registration form. I hope that makes sense but I have no idea how to do this...
