Oh also, I have experience with RMA with WD and a several times the drives they brought back were noisier and also defective. The replacements are just repaired and sometimes junk. Thanks a lot guys...The drive doesn't make spinning sounds, it makes a similar thrashing sound to normal drives but it is of a much hollower and more deep quality. It rumbles essentially. The only problem with asking for a new drive is that I thought WD would just send me another refurbished...- moshun

Hi everyone, I have a 500gb WD SATA: WD 500GB Serial-ATA2 7200RPM 16MB Cache WD5000AAKS Its fine but the only problem is that it is the noisiest drive Ive ever had. Compared to the Samsung I have in there it sounds like a car engine. It wails when opening folders (granted the folder is 100gb)...- moshun
