Unable to PPTP from XP Client to WG X700

The WatchGuard should be handling the VPN traffic.

Unable to PPTP from XP Client to WG X700

I am trying to set up remote access for a user from his XP VPN Client at home to the office X700 (Version 7.2B1501). I have set up the X700 as the documentation suggests; however, it still does not work. RDP from the outside to an internal server works (NAT) and the user is able to VPN to our...

    Site-to-Site ISA to ASA

Hi, I am trying to set up a VPN between MS ISA 2004 and a Cisco ASA 5510. The ISA server already has a VPN configured for another remote office running ISA 2004 on interface 1.2.3.4. Could I create another VPN site-to-site on the same interface 1.2.3.4 or do I need to add another IP to the...

Figuring out web server from client

Hi, thanks for the reply and sorry if this was not the right place to put it. I figured Apache administrators would know more about this than IIS admins (I am one), as MS tends to teach only about MS stuff! BTW... how would you read this HTTP response header line... from a browser, in telnet...

Figuring out web server from client

Is there a way to figure what type of web server you are hitting (i.e. Apache, IIS, Domino, etc)?

Cannot access out FTP server from any workstation

Dawn, I believe you have some kind of firewall on the FTP server enabled. This could be something like Norton Client Security or another security bundle. If that is the case, you need to look through the documentation to create exceptions.

Cannot access out FTP server from any workstation

If the mmc isn't working, the IIS/FTP might have been uninstalled: 1) Check to see if the FTP Service is still configured - Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows Components - In the Windows Component Wizard, click Internet Information Services | Details -...

Unable to ping NetBIOS name, but can ping DNS name

Thanks again for the comments.... [thumbsup] Having a workgroup in the internal LAN with the same name as the remote domain was the problem. I expected the WINS server entry to take precedence over the NetBIOS broadcast, but it doesn't like DNS does. If anyone from Symantec is reading this...

Cannot access out FTP server from any workstation

The thing you mentioned about the moving of the network card was pretty strange, which makes me wonder if it is at the physical layer. I don't know if you tried this yet, but try these from the FTP server machine: 1) ping localhost 2) ping gateway 3) ping www.tek-tips.com 4) browse internal...

Unable to ping NetBIOS name, but can ping DNS name

Thanks for the postings... FYI... the "remote" domain is in the DMZ and we have a VPN between the DMZ and the internal LAN. There are 2 firewalls between them so a VPN is needed, not just a . AD is there for Exchange, security, etc. Here is something new though, I just found out that there...

Unable to ping NetBIOS name, but can ping DNS name

Hi, I have been able to ping the FQDN of a domain (abc.local), but can not ping the NetBIOS name (abc). I checked WINS and "ABC" domain has the 4 entries needed and flushed the cache using nbtstat -R. Does anyone have any other suggestions of where I could check? The reason for this is I...

Backup Exec Remote Selection for DMZ Servers

Hi, Thanks for the posting... the vxmon tool may be what I needed. I know about the Windows networking, but in order for me to get the other servers to show up in My Network Places, it requires setting up trusts between a public and private domain. I was trying to see if there is an easier...

Backup Exec Remote Selection for DMZ Servers

I am running BE 10d on Windows 2003 SP2 servers, and I have some servers that do not show up in the Remote Selection lists when creating a backup job. There is a VPN between the internal LAN and the DMZ, so all the ports should be available. I can ping the servers and everything, but BE does...
