Thanks all for all your help. I'm close, but no cigar yet. I think my problem is that the 4.2 I have was not installed with all options. When I went to the add queue section, there was no option for JetDirect...I blazed ahead and set up a queue as a remote, and it was added...but of course... -

Thanks for all your help. I had not found the document aixqueen referenced at the IBM site. I went there and downloaded the reference. The only problem is that even though we're on 4.2, it appears that not all modules were installed since when I ran smitty mkpq I did not get a listing that... -

In attempting to set up a print queue using SMIT, I've set up the print server ip address in the /etc/hosts file. Then I've gone to add the print queue, using the same ip address in the hostname of the remote server (it's an HP Jetdirect attached to an HP Laserjet5). I've used the network name...
