The differences between 8088 and the 8086 was how the system accesss the memory and the isa bus. The 8086 had a 16 bit data path to the memory and bus while the 8088 was a 16 bit procssor, it accessed the memory and bus at 8 bit.
Ouch.... that request may not be possible with out programing. There is a slim chance that multi-boot configuration with registry keys being installed with DOS commands might work. Does any one else has ideas?
Did you try in a MS-DOS window? Or did use restart in MS-DOS mode? If you used restart in msdos mode you could try to use deltree, but use it carefully as this little program could erase your drive if not used correctly.
