    Reply to Archery: Thanks, I tried this just now: DoCmd.OpenForm "frmYAF",WindowMode:=acDialog Unfortunately it does not change the behaviour of the hourglass. However the comma-shortcut is a handy trick I had not known before, thanks.

    That would be nice but it already takes a few seconds to run. That is why it is disorienting when there is no hourglass. Thanks for the idea.
