External Modem problems in Mandrake 8
No, the Motorola Modem Surfer is a stand alone, external modem with on board control functions. The reason I suspect the port instead of the modem is that I don't see even a flicker of any LED (CD, TD, SD, OH) when the modem search is initiated through Hard Drake, and only the RI--Ring Indicator...- WyoGary

External Modem problems in Mandrake 8
I have an Intel 810 motherboard with a single serial port. The Hard disk contains both windows 98 and Mandrake 8, and will boot to either OS through LILO.
