When I log into pc, the desktop appears with the usual icons, after a few seconds it dissapears and then reappears, this happens as long as the machine is on.- rhinobhoy

I have xp pro, when the machine is switched on my desktop items dissapear and reapear from the screen, dropping me out each time. I have tried systems restore but it will only allow me to return to the date the problem started. Help, I would even consider a reset to factory settings- rhinobhoy
