Many thanks for your replies, all are very much appreciated. I'll heed that warning about scaling effects.
Would you still agree that using a scaled down AI file is a sound method of producing extra large graphics?
It seems to me that in Illustrator I can't create an artboard bigger than 577.9cm wide. Is that right or is there some way round that?
We need large (10m+) artboard for signage design for vehicles, buildings etc. Is it that the way to do it is scale the item?
Hi Forum
I wonder if you kind and knowledgeable folks would please take a look at the pdf at http://www.a-designer.co.uk/folds.pdf and let me know if my margins for folding seem correct for 250gsm stock which will be creased and folded. I had to add the 2mm margins when client decided to move...
Hi Forum
Apologies if this is a no-brainer; I've searched, honest.
I'd like to work on multiple page documents in IDCS3 and view them horizontally across the pasteboard. Is this possible?
Printing is fine on my desktop, but the pdfs (created in IDCS3) which I'm sending (on CD) to commercial printer are not printing. We've tried Press Quality (I normally use this preset) and High Quality Print - they tell me that none of these are working, the symptom being that it just sits in...
Hi
I've created inx files to share with another user who has InDesign CS(1) - they're getting a message "This is not a valid InDesign interchange format" - I've suggested Adobe Downloads, but I'm not sure how far they can get with that - it appears we have to go to 4.05 before the inx file can...
Whoa... I've never come across a website that has a 10/10 Google ranking! Thanks again, Andrew, I'll point them towards the updates and I'll take on board what you say about exporting to eps
Good luck
Jim
Many thanks for your reply - much appreciated.
Yes, they Place pdf in InDesign document.
Normally i set pdf to 1.4 and that's the only one they've had. Today I sent a 1.3 just as experiment, haven't heard back yet.
Symptoms are that pdf is totally missing when exported and that PC slows to a...
...and I'm creating files in CS2. It seems that the pdf's I send to client (who runs a local newspaper and should know better to upgrade, yes I know) cause horrible problems occasionally. Is this predictable? Is it redeemable?
Any suggestions please? Even the bleeding obvious (tell them to...
Thanks. Yes, house is magnificent - a genuine traditional 18th century Norfolk farmhouse in Grand Style.
The line drawing is for print material (brochures etc) but I'm using it as a background on the website too -

Thanks for your interest, but I think I've cracked it.

I made one tile, replicated a row of them (Transform>Each), then replicated about 20 rows. I then used the direct selection tool to distort (to give perspective) and finished up with a...
Hi
I'm making a vector line drawing of a building. It's a flat front-on projection, but the roof's puzzling me; It needs to be filled with tiles, then given some perspective treatment. I've tried all sorts of methods with patterns and brushes but nothings working. Any suggestions please?
I've used several transparency blending modes in my CS2 document to achieve a layered appearance. The file prints OK from my desktop but proofs from printhouse don't show the blending effects, namely screen and overlay. When I do Overprint View I can see the problem, but how to resolve? Pdf...
