In my case the solution was simple: I uninstalled the IDETool and it worked. I believe the tool makes some smart things with the drivers.
After unsinstalling the IDETool I got STOP 0x7B again, but it is a piece of cake: I just reinstalled the Windows 2000 after having rebooted from Windows 98...
