runnerbl - did you get all the other drivers installed except the wireless topdog card?
No I never got the topdog wireless card to work.
Also check the other forum link above on this subject.
Tony - thanks for our kind words, but it isn't that much pain. I have been using a USB adapter and it has been working fine for me to surf, BUT I wold like to see if someone can get this Topdog card to work. I have followed his instructions to the tee but it says it's there, the manager says...
wiccedwiccan - I also have a mt6456 but it just doesn't seem to find any networks. If I attach myUSB wireless adapter, then the adapter has no problem finding any but the wireless won't . I wonder if I need to get rid of the usb adapter software and see if it will work.
wiccedwiccan - do you...

I have an MT6821, which has a Marvel Yukon 88E8038 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller...
Isn't that for the CAT 5 WIRED PORT - not the wireless set up that everyone is looking for - or have I lost it?
Burt - try mailing them to me at awacky99-at-hotmail.com and I'll see if it workes. Now you have the mt6458 or MT6456 and you are saying it is the topdog card and it works for you?
Well it just wouldn't find any networks. I then took out the Netgear using the remove software and that also got rid of the wireless connection. I then tried to do the zero configuration and it was already set up as auto.
So now I'm back to the start where xp has found new hardware.
Why when I...
Tony - Yep I know you don't have it anymore and you got the replacement card - but even with that you still have info that has helped and clarified things for me.
I did put in that Netgear driver (sys) and it might work. I don't have any wireless connections around me right now so I won't know...
Has anyone tried lonebirch idea or his step by step plans?
Tony - how do you do this - 1. The 'Wireless Zero Configuration' Service in the Windows 'Computer Management Console' must be set to 'Automatic' startup type.
thanks
burtsbees - so you checked your laptop at work and found it has the correct card we are needing help with - then you mentioned a ftp site - what happened there?
So bottom line - is your Marvell Yukon 88E8038 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
working? If so How?
StomperX - I've been following your questions on the web and have responded to them. 1st did you ever get the sound working on your friends MT6456?
As of these days the wireless card in there will only work with Vista - and you know your choices by now.
No - actually mine sounds good for small speakers. I read that the sound on this 6456 with Vista was poor but after reading that and getting XP in there I was surprised it sounded OK on mine.
Freestone - thanks for your post. Since I got in a loop right after I installed it - I couldn't uninstall because I could never get windows to open - so I reinstalled windows and that's when the other partitiion disappeared.
granvillegayle - If you're still reading this I guess the wireless card by Marvell is hopeless so the 2 options are ger another wireless card like the Intel Wireless WiFi 4965AGN that has the XP and Vista drivers for $30+ or use a USB wireless adapter ( I'm doing this and it working fine)
TOM & TONY and the rest of the gang -
THANK YOU.
I've got XP up and running on the mt6456 without the wireless of course. I did try putting in go back that I've used alot and really like it since it's saved me a few times and this is the 1st time I've had a problem with it and XP. I've read...
tmckinneyebony
What and where did you get the video? was the Catalyst with it- is that just a useless utility? Did you back up drive D and just make 1 partition for the xp or what?
thanks Chuck
