I would have selected by tree the directories to be restored.
Especially if jpg files were spread out all over a volume.
Then set a filter to to only restore *.jpg or *.jpeg or whatever. This worked for me when pkzippedfiles.exe attacked. (remember that cute one?) Filter icon looks like...
