I had the same issue with normal users, as well as a test with a domain admin. I'd like to go back and verify the results though, I'll do that and then post back. May be a week or more.
Yeah, server has been rebooted a couple of times since that event. No change. That effective permissions thing is bugging me. A policy of some sort, not allowing the permissions on the AD user object to be set correctly? Dunno.
Fred
Well now I can't get "Send As" to work at all now, either. Tried setting it up on a second user.
This must be a major clue:
After setting the sending user up per above, I can go into the sending user's AD object, security tab, advanced...look down the list - there is a user object for the...
Using Microsoft Exchange 2010 on a Win2008R2 server. In the Exchange Management Shell:
Per MS website:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124403.aspx
- See example 1
I set up "Send As" permissions as described above and it works great.
However, try to revoke it using this...
Exchange 2010, when I create a mailbox recipient object, then open it, one of the fields in the General tab is "Alias"
Help says alias is where you put an alias.
MS Technet article says alias is aka MailNickname and explains how it's default is arrived at but doesn't say what it's for.
I...
All of my email clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) are currently using my sendmail server to send email. The server does not require authentication for SMTP.
If I set my sendmail server to require SMTP authentication, that means that all of my email clients will need an account on my server...
Thanks - I checked CMOS and the RAID was listed there as enabled. I hadn't even thought of looking there. I agree, it should survive the restore, which I assume is going to format drive C: and reinstall a clean OS with original drivers etc.
Fred
I have a Gateway about 2 years old, which has a recovery partition (D:) and will perform a complete system restore by hitting F11 on boot-up.
When purchased, I had two drives installed and RAID 1 set up, which was factory installed and configured.
Does anyone know, if I use F11 and choose to...
I did a keyword search here on "facebook" and got no hits.
I'm wondering if there is a way to block FB games specifically, using the ASA. I guess management doesn't mind FB itself so much but want to deny the Game applets. Can this be done?
Fred
Basically, so that users know we know. In other words, if they know that their browsing history is retained and that management can review it at will, they'll be less likely to be visiting questionable sites.
I realize there is tracking software out there, and that I can shadow anyone...
When I say that "delete browser history at logout" is working, I mean that we shut it off policy. The checkbox in the IE for users is un-checked and greyed out.
But it fails anyway because in spite of the above, history is not saved back to the user's Profiles folder. So when they log back in...
We have three terminal servers, deploying desktops to users on thin client terminals with Citrix.
All users have roaming profiles.
We are giving users Internet Explorer access, but want to lock down the browser history so users know we can review it at will.
We've used AD group policies to...
Ah, found it. Wasn't paying attention. The docs for the drive say "you can upgrade your tape drive's firmware...by using the diagnostic software available at www.quantum.com/support.
I missed the "diagnostic software" part. I just downloaded the diagnostic software and doc.
Fred
In regards to thread504-1499760
When I was in the broadcast industry we had tape erasers, huge electromagnets essentially. I'm sure they must still be available.
A few swipes by the eraser and there was nothing intelligent on the tapes any longer. Just wondered if that qualifies as secure...
Thanks, but everything is new. Bought both of these identical units about a month ago. Cleaning tapes have been used maybe five times each. Haven't even rotated the entire set of backup tapes around yet.
Side note, the tape drives and SCSI interfaces were not purchased installed; otherwise...
I just checked it out, the "Clean" light isn't actually flashing at the moment but it's on steady. I should have said too, that cleaning the drive doesn't help.
And, I have two identical Dell PCs with Windows XP, each with an identical Quantum DAT72 drives, on SCSI cards.
They both do the...
I've got a Quantum DAT72 SCSI, on a Dell Windows XP machine.
The "clean tape" light constantly flashes. I'm told that a firmware upgrade is required. So, downloaded that from Quantum.
The drive's docs say that firmware can be upgraded by using the diagnostic software available at...
