This is a computer I cobbled together three years ago. Very fast tand plenty of bells and windows.
My Norton Systems works and ZA are purchsed installs. The live data is very timely.
I will look into housecall.
Thanks for the replies.

I did install and run Adaware and Spybot 1.4
Altho both found some bad stuff , esp spybot with several tracking cookies, I eliminated all the bad stuff found but the problem persists.
Setting it to "never dial a connection" will eliminate the problem but is inconvenient for my normal use. When...
Yes. I have several scans which I run. From Norton and ZA. Nothing there. And the virus and anti-spy data is up-to-date.
Another thing I've done which reveals nothing is to search specifying files of today's date immediately after aloowing the dial-up and d/l to end.
No files with that date...
My Dial-up window pops up frequently. Some program in my XP PC is causing it. I have Zonelarm Pro, Norton SystemWorks. Can't find anything there to ID the source?
If I click to connect, it dials up my ISP and then I receive up to 75kb of data.
Is there some way to ID it?

Recently, in XP, a dial-up window appears in the middle of whatever I'm doing. Every 10 minutes or so.
If I cancel, it reappears later.
If I dial-up, I receive approx 20kb of data and then nothing.
How can I tell what in my PC is doing this?
I get Server and Client IP addresses in the...
I don't know. I gather, from something I read, it's sent to the other end and confirms some securty-related function.
I have since d/l and installed v 2.0 (which I think I already was using. No difference.
The website is www.w4iax.com and it's when you try to log in or register as a member...
Like I said, this is all exceding my competence.
No I am not running any extensions. He suggested some but I feel, if FF works for every other website, it should work on his.
Not sure what a "deep link" is. If it means accessing his site through some other link, I don't think so. At least...
I didn't turn anything off. I'm using v 5.0, as downloaded.
Do you think I should just turn it on and be done with it?
Usually, if it ain't broke, I don't fix it.This is the only site this has ever done this to me.
The ISP is a 16 yr old young fellow, a very sharp member of our amateur radio...
jpadie - do you agree with this? It's beyond my competance. This is what the webmaster tells me after I told him you said to turn it off. As I told him, I have out-of-the-box Mozilla ( latest). I don't have problems anywhere else.

Here is what he replied:
"Its nothing I have done , it...

Thanks for the info. I'm about to add a slave HD and may do just what you said.
My reason for all of this is to use an Autocad feature I really liked: Calculating the area of odd shapes. I tried VISIO and it is terrible for that.
If I could find another program to do that, I'd go for it...
Thanks for the tip. Yes, I did go to NTFS. Probably what's causing the problem.
When you suggest dual boot, are you saying I re-install W98 and run it in that mode?

Running ACAD in XP PRO Command Line Prompt
When I run ACAD.EXE, I get opening screen. When I select new or rev dwg, I get FATAL ERROR: C: DISK FULL.
Used to work in 95 and 98.
I have all ACAD files.
I think I'm missing needed path command or sys file.
Any suggestions?

XP PRO on 12. ghz PC
I have dial-up. 36k, max. Received audio is broken up.
Please note: I also have a voip application for ham radio called ECHOLINK. It works perfectly.
What can I expect for Skype?

Did find one that MIGHT work but it turned out not to work. No luck.
Sorry, I left a word out. I do think I follow the FAQ's pretty faithfully. One addition might be to preview my post. But, it already offers that choice.
Thanks
