I know that the PRI loops are tied to their position in hardware, can a route be any number or should it be tied to something - either for clarity or for hardware reasons. (I haven't done any route programming for 18 years....)
I had everything but the LD 14 stuff. It worked perfectly!!!! We even failed over the primary (old T1) circuit and calls flowed on the T1 over UDP/IP connection with no one even noticing!
on the post from GHTrout, I didn't have to build a new route, it works great with just adding it to the...
We have an Opt 81c at our main site and an Opt 11c at a remote site. We have always had a T1 between them. All calls at the remote site use this T1. Due to telco issues, the T1 is not as reliable as we would like. I have added another T1 circuit between the 2 sites(different carrier...
of course it works. Refer to the HP A7500 Switch Series Fundamentals Configuration Guide. (It's actually a good reference for this!) Starting on Page 119.
You can easily TFTP the Boot Rom file, as well as the new Switch O/S.
Once you get the new files uploaded to the Switch, you use the...
I have a network switch that has started to generate alarm in iMC. the ping times to reach the switch range from 1ms up to 473ms. (The switch is connected with a 1 Gbps fiber link into an A7500 core.) I ran a ping plotter graph and the resp. times run around 1ms, but once every minute they...
Here is the Answer:
Even though its just a physical link, the 3Com/HP Networking A-Series to <any-other> requires a hard coded speed AND DUPLEX setting before the link light will come on.
For a 1Gig, full duplex connection:
Interface Gigabit n/n/n
port access vlan xxx
speed 1000
duplex full...
It depends on the version of the O/S on each of the switches. They need to be at the same level (or both at least above the level where this feature was added.) I think they are pushing IRF to tie several switches into one large "virtual switch". if you have all 5500's and stacking cables...
If you have a LC-SC patch cable, and the SC ends are hooked together, you can just take off the little gizzy that holds the 2 SC connectors together (for an SC Duplex connection). That way, you end up with 2 separate SC connector ends that you can plug into a fiber panel with single SC ports...
I am going nuts. This is something that I do all the time. The last 2 times I have tried it, I had the same problem. HP Networking s7910 (like the 7500 switch, just before HP renamed it). going from a 1gig SFP gbic to another 1gig SFP Gbic - IN THE SAME ROOM.
Read this before replying and...
Loop start lines uncommon? Really? Loops Starts are fine for outgoing calls, but the lack of disconnect supervision for incoming calls will tie up the line(s) for whatever time is specified in the config.
These lines are used primarily as a backup for WHEN THE PRI GOES DOWN. Replacing them...
We are switching Telephone Providers and the new provider only supplies loop start lines. Since I am connecting them to an Option 11c, ground start lines seem to work best (disconnect timing has always been an issue with Loop Start). Does anyone know of a device that can convert a Loop start...
Does anyone out there have any specfics on how to use SIP Trunks to Connect our ShoreTel switches to our Nortel CS1000? We currently use a dual T1 connection (S/T T1K's to N/T PRI's which works fine), but I purchased SIP Trunk licenses on both systems to test with so I can move ahead in...
It has been over 10 years since I went to Nortel School and I just cant remember how to do this since it doesnt come up very much. I have an Option11c (or CS1000e as it is called now). I have another trunk card that I need to install. Do I have to do anything with Common Equipment to tell the...
I am familar with 3Com switches and Spanning Tree recovery always seems to take about 20 seconds to reconverge. This is assuming that you have your priorities set properly, descending from your edge switches (highest priority numbers) to the core (the lowest priority number). No matter what...
Still having the issues. 3Com attributes it to a small batch of bad XFPs (which we seem to have every one of them and all the RMAs gave us more "bad" xfps.) We are still waiting for a final resolution....
LOOKING FOR ANY ODD TIPS/TRICKS FOR 7900 series
- Here's why:
We are having an unbelieveable time with 10Gig XFP transceivers in a new s7910e chasis. It now appears that they are NOT hot pluggable (although SOME of the XFPs are..) I know how crazy that sounds and I could fill a book with...
cat 5e is rated to 1Gigbit. enough with the cabling! the big thing I see is that if you have a 4500 and not a 4500G, then you just dont have gig ports (except for the uplink ports). Is it a 4500 or a 4500G?
For example a 4500-26 port (non gig) is model 3CR17561-91, while the 4500G-24 port...
try the 3Com K-base. They usually have this type of problem documented on there support.3com.com
I have not found anything that the 3com switch cant do in terms of basic and STANDARDS based networking function.
When you say the Cisco phone doesnt work, can you be more specific? POE? using...
Not too biased, was it.. I have standardized on 3Com. With my eyes wide open. I know their performance is great and the price/performance is what puts them over the top for us. I know that Cisco has the best support, but its not worth paying twice the cost for it. (All you Cisco bigots out...
dont know if this will help or not, i just know it caused me big performance problems in the past:
1. spanning tree priorities across all switches from the edge to the core need to go from highest (edge) to the lowest (core) usually around 50000 to 8192.
2. unless you have carefully set up...
