Beginner Q: How to separate data from Excel into related tables and maintain relationship?

The tables noted in the OP have no data, only a structure. The data is all in 2 Excel sheets currently - the date is the sort mechanism - one line of data per day. As I learn of the advantages of Access and the limits of Excel it makes sense to transition to Access. Conceptually, all the...

Thanks for the reply, To answer the Q's in order: Q: Are you saying that you have different numeric data types in one column? I have a table that summarizes & compares data from several years by week (each year is given 52 weeks for this ongoing effort). Each yearly table has over 100 items that are tabulated by week. All of the data is numerical but some of it is in decimal form and some is in time form - [h]:mm:ss...

Copy file with quote symbol (") in name

Thanks to ArizonaGeek The Linux solution was exactly what was needed. With help from the IT staff, a Linux OS was used to copy the files to another drive and rename them. They are now on my MP3 player. The IT staff informed me that Mac software was used to create the filenames that used the...

Excel retrieve data from LARGE text file

Frederico and CMP Thanks for your input but, I think it will have limited ability for me since many of the text files I will need to reference exceed Excel's limit for rows (the last output I ran had over 290,000 rows of text). The example data I showed in the original post begins somewhere...

Excel: Convert 1 column of data to several

Blank lines will make the data compatable with blank tables already in use. But, if the re-organization could be accomplished without the blank lines, they ciuld easily be added manulally (the objective array will either have 7, 10 or 14 rows of data, so adding blanks is not too bad). Thanks
