Hi everyone,
We are facing a persistent and critical issue with our Avaya IP Office Small Community Network (SCN) deployment across multiple branches. Specifically, we are experiencing no audio (one-way or completely absent) during calls between certain branches, and the SCN link itself shows...
Absolutely — and in this case, the engineer really showed deep understanding of both the NTP stack and Linux internals.
He didn’t just apply a generic fix, but tailored a proactive monitoring and correction mechanism, covering:
Time drift detection via monotonic clock comparison
Intelligent...
Hi,
The Unify OpenScape Business X8 officially supports SIP trunk connections with third-party PBX systems like Avaya IP Office. You can set up a Native SIP Trunk by configuring the remote IP and port, without registration, and properly setting call routing (LCR) and dial plans.
Here are...
Hi All,
We recently opened a support case with Avaya due to unexplained time synchronization failures on our IP Office system.
The assigned engineer developed and implemented a full monitoring and recovery solution, including automatic checks, ping gap detection, and intelligent NTP switching...
Hi all,
Just wanted to close the loop on this case and share our resolution for future reference.
Background:
We were trying to configure two SIP trunk lines from our provider (Orange), delivered via two separate media converters. Our goal was to connect them to our Avaya SBC using VLAN...
Hi all,
Just wanted to close the loop on this thread and thank everyone for the great input and shared experience.
I’ve received an official response from Avaya Support confirming that:
🔹 You cannot upgrade directly from 11.1.2.3 (FP2 SP3) to 11.1.3.2 (FP3 SP2).
🔹 You must first upgrade to...
Hi everyone,
I'm running Avaya IP Office with Media Manager.
We’ve recently added two new agents (extensions: 33624 and 33626). Call recording for both is working fine — recordings are successfully stored and can be seen from the Admin portal.
We’ve also enabled access for our supervisor...
You're correct in your understanding — Avaya IX Workplace (for Windows, Android, or iOS) does not support ringing on Bridged Appearances (BAs) the same way that physical deskphones like 96xx or J-series phones do.
Why?
IX Workplace is a softphone application, and unlike hardware phones, it...
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a dual SIP trunk setup from our telco (Orange) and using an Avaya SBC (virtualized) in front of Avaya IP Office Server Edition R11.1.
Each SIP trunk is delivered via separate physical links and separate /30 networks:
Link 1 (Primary): Signaling and media IPs...
Thanks for the heads-up — that’s a very important note regarding the certificate renewal issue in 11.1.3.2 Build 6.
This exact version is the one we were targeting for our upgrade, so your warning is timely. We’ll definitely reach out to Avaya for confirmation and check whether the patch is...
That’s a brilliant approach — thanks for sharing!
Really appreciate the insight around provisioning base extensions on the Secondary.
We hadn't considered that route, but it's a clever way to keep critical users connected during Primary upgrades without waiting on failover timers.
We’re...
Thanks a lot for the detailed input — incredibly helpful!
Totally agree with your points, especially about:
Avoiding ISO mount via vSphere from a local admin machine — we’ve seen the performance hit firsthand.
Using ISO upload via Web Manager being significantly faster and more reliable in...
Hi,
You're absolutely right — in most cases, setting up a robust cron job with proper ntpdate or ensuring ntpd runs correctly can save a lot of headache, and definitely easier than rebuilding the entire server.
That being said, I suspect some edge-case behavior here — maybe a conflict...
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and for taking the time to write the commands — really appreciated.
I’m currently working on an Avaya IP Office Server Edition running on VMware, and I actually faced a similar issue recently where the timezone unexpectedly changed and NTP sync stopped...
@derfloh :
Thanks a lot for your input — much appreciated.
You're right that Avaya's official documentation shows the Primary Server as the starting point in the upgrade flow, and that’s generally the expected path when using Web Manager with ISO upload.
However, since this is a sensitive...
@IPOriface :
Thanks for the great question.
The client operates in a 24x7 environment (Banking sector), so any disruption — even on the UI or agent side — is highly sensitive and needs to be pre-approved with a fixed outage window.
That’s why we’re preparing a detailed plan and considering...
@Mo. Abdullah :
You’re absolutely right — the upgrade via Web Manager 7070 using the ISO upload works smoothly between R11.1.2 and R11.1.3, and we’ve validated that in lab setups before.
We also made sure to check disk space on the primary partition beforehand — great reminder.
In our case...
@MikeeOK :
Thanks for the input — really appreciate the direct approach.
You're absolutely right: since we're already on R11.1 and running on VMware, upgrading via ISO through Web Manager does work smoothly in most cases, and the snapshot gives a solid rollback plan.
However, this...
Hi everyone,
We are planning to upgrade an Avaya IP Office Server Edition deployment currently running on:
Version: 11.1 Feature Pack 2 Service Pack 3
Build: 11.1.2.3.0 (Build 3)
We’re targeting the latest available release:
Version: 11.1 Feature Pack 3 Service Pack 2
Build: 11.1.3.2.0...
...run the following commands manually:
sudo systemctl restart ntpd
sudo ntpdate -u x.x.x.x
After about 5 minutes, the ntpq -p command shows * next to the server indicating sync is restored.
However, this fix is temporary and the problem recurs after some time, requiring repeated manual...
