What's good for a hangover?... Heavy drinking the night before!!
I want something to show Hierarchy, where you can see who reports into who, to build like a tree, organisation chart type thing, in my original post I said "I want something like this" the word "something" suggests that what I posted was merely an example of what I wanted!
Preferably I would...
You have a soloution!? That is fantastic! I look forward to your post, thank you!
And yes, how you've posted is exactly what I want, so from your example, we can see that Biddy Small reports into Paul Underearth, Paul himself reports into Ave Garnet and Ave reports into Paul Robinson! Only...
I don't have any VBA programming experience, but i'm really glad that you have mentioned that its not something that can be done in Excel directly - I have spent the past four nights laying awake thinking of possibilties before posting this question on here! If it cannot be done without some...
Hi, i'm hoping someone can help with a query I have... I am trying to build a Human Resources Hierachy report - Basically the report has staff names, details such as cost code, and department etc etc, and also their line manager. What I need to do is show a drill-down, starting at the top...
Thanks for that, very useful too! At some point we want to get firstname and surname so your formula will be very useful for that! Cheers!

Very nice too! Even the sun can't lift the grime off of South London which is where our office is based! Very depressing, and you can bet your bottom dollar that come the weekend, it will be raining! ;-)

Hi, i've done a search, i'm sure its on here but have spent a while looking but cant find anything.
I have an email field, which i need to trim to show only before the "@" :
So for example:
my_name@domain.com
should return just:
my_name
Thank you

In our Oracle database we capture the time our website takes to complete an order (the automated process between when a client clicks "SUBMIT ORDER" to when the screen refreshes saying "ORDER COMPLETED" etc - anyway, this time is recorded in Milliseconds.
I need two new formula fields...
Mmm... Not a bad idea at all! Thanks

The average of 4232 isnt the actual figure, I just typed that in, but how I would like to get to that figure is by simply calculating the average per day for each unique client, regardless of whether its a Info or News view.
To clarify, the Total Unique is not a sum of the two averages, because...
Brilliant... I dont know what its doing, or how it works but it does and im very grateful!
Is there anyway I can get total average per day in the same report regardless of view type.
I can do this in a seperate report, by deleting the Type Group 1, and just having a Group on date, and then...
Everytime one of our clients reads a news or info article on our website, an entry is added against their account ID for that date for either "Info" or "News". So I have a table with just three fields in it:
Date
Type (either "News" or "Info"
Account_ID
I have two groups, group1 on Type and...
This formula is spectacular!! It works a treat, thank you so much! Its brilliant!!

LBass - I simply copied your formula into my Select Expert, hit refresh... and bang... PERFECT!! This done what ive been trying to do myself for weeks!
I love the simplification of it too, makes much more sense!
Very much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help... ive seen similar posts on here but having gone through responses, still cant get this to work.
I have a report with four parameter's in it...
?View Type - Picklist
?Exchange - Picklist
?Site Type - Picklist
?Account ID - Type in (over 500k entries)
What I am...
Ive gone with this approach...
Ive created a formula for Hour:
@Hour
hour({ORDER_HISTORY.MODIFIED_DATE})
And then grouped on that field. I have then created my average formula:
@Average
Count ({ORDER_HISTORY.ORDER_HISTORY_ID},{@Hour})/60
And dropped that into the group line. I can now add...
Yes sorry, I was hoping that I could show an average along multiple timescales in various charts. I know from the chart expert I can pick whether to show Hour, Minute, AM/PM etc, I wanted to do that on multiple charts showing average orders (ie, average per hour, average per minute, average per...
I was thinking that if i added a count field which worked like this:
TIMESTAMP ORDER_HISTORY_ID @COUNT
10:04:31 45678 1
10:04:33 45679 2
10:06:12 45680 3
I have a Sum field which shows total of...
