When I mean 'start a Samba session' I mean, when I'm in windows, I open a window to my Linux box via Windows explorer. I guess that's kind of like 'network places'...

Gord opens a Samba session, does what he has to do, goes for a coffee, Chantal comes and uses the computer on the same Windows session. When she opens a Samba session, I want her Samba to revalidate.

Yes, both users do use the same Windows user account. Is there any way to keep authenticating the Samba user though? I sort of understand what you mean, and on separate logons, we can each validate separately, but is there any way to have Samba 'not pay attention'...

Yeah, Samba is running on a Gentoo Machine, and I'm fileserving from a Windows Maching - both on the same network (behind a d-link, hooked up to DSL).
