I joined a domain A using net rpc A -Uuser%pass. Then I tested the join with net rpc testjoin, it said Joined to A Ok.
When I tried to getent passwd i failed to see domain users. When I tried wbinfo --sequence it showed that I am disconnected to domain A.
Why there is a discrepency in what...
I joined my samba server to a Windows domain "A" then decided to put it in domain "B", while doing so it fails to import the users from Domain "B". Should I do something to flush the windbind_idmap.tdb where it had mapped the users of the domain "A"? Or it assings new UIDs and continues?
I joined my linux server to a windows domain. From that point no local user can login to the samba server. Only domain users are able to join. How can I let both local user and domain user access the same samba server?
What changes should be made? In nsswitch.conf or smb.conf?
I am trying to join my linux box to a Windows domain thru my program. Whenever I restart Winbind from my code , I get the following error in the log. I first copy domain details into smb.conf, run net rpc join in my code and then restart winbind. My join succeeds. But winbind throws this error...

I need to join my box to the domain, but thru a program and not from command line. Is there a call equivalent to net rpc join that will do the job or should I do system("net rpc join ****"); ?
I think I did not state the question right. My intention was not to logrotate the file, but just to insist on the type of feature the logrotate.conf file has. By speciying the directory name in the conf file, they include all files under that dir to configure logrotate. for eg. include...
I joined my box to a (pre windows 2000)domain in the network. And after that if I give wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g, I get the groups and users. And I ran the code nss_testers(or somethig like that, written by Tridge). The users list is enumerated but the group list fails. It technically hangs at...
By writing a line like include=/etc/samba/smbshares/, would it include automatically all the files under smbshares directory? If not wouldn't that be a useful features like it is found in other conf files? say logrotate.conf has that feature.
For samba to know abt local users we add users from /etc/passwd to smbpasswd file. Is there anything like that for groups. How does samba know abt local groups?
When I set encrypt passwords = no in smb.conf, I cannot even access the linux box from my Windows XP client. It even has been set to send unencrypted password.
I need to setup samba shares, where each valid users for a share can be one among the users on the system. No external domains or whatsoever used. All local users. How can I authenticate these users using the same passwd as in /etc/passwd. And what should be the Globals contain for this to work
I need to start portmap thru xinetd. I tried and it fails saying "address already in use". I think since xinetd runs instead of portmap on 111, portmapper cannot start and bind itself to that port. So how do I tell portmapper to start on a different port?

Hi All,
Has anyone ever tried finding out the performance of Samba when smbd and nmbd are started by xinetd, considering a lot of activity over SMB protocol in the network?
