Also, I am updating my bios as we speak (it really isnt very much outta date, but why not try it?) and I unplugged all my other devices (cd-roms and other HD) to see if it was a power problem. It is NOT a power problem.
I have the jumpers set correctly. I set them every time I change hard drives or whatever.
I was aware that there is a Primary IDE slot and a secondary IDE slot. In BOTH slots I had the HD problem. (I had the HD's in the primary IDE slot to begin with)
Ok, my second WD HD crashed and died. So I figure I'll go out and get a better brand of HD. One that will last longer and better. So I go and get a Seagate HD. So my system right now is a:
Shuttle AK31 Mainboard
XP 1800+
786 MB DDR 2100
Radeon 9000 Pro
Audigy Gamer
IDE Slot 1:
Primary HD...
Sorry to double post, but about my previous post, my mouse used to work fine. And I have not added any PCI cards since it worked fine. So I dont know why one of my PCI cards would start doing that now.
The only think it could be for me is PCI cards. I have a couple of them (WinTV, Audigy Gamer, Modem, NIC). But the only other things I have plugged into my USB is my mouse and keyboard.
Dude, with my mouse, i wont be in my room. I can be out watching tv. Mouse not moving an inch. Da-dunk...goes the sound of the mouse, when im not even in there! But when I plug it in to my PS/2 PUFF it goes away. Please explain that. Cuz that doesnt sound like a wire short.
Yep, I havnt fixed it yet either. Im thinking im SOL. I also play online games, such as BF1942, and when your flying an apache, and your mouse freezes...you crash and die....very annoying.
No, this problem has not been resolved for me. My mouse is not dead, I have 2 mice that work. They just lose connection for a few seconds, then come back on. Every now and then they lose connectoin alltogether, and I have to plug it into my other USB port and it works...just has that few seconds...
I have 2 mice. One mouse I have always used. Always worked fine untill recently. I just bought a new mouse. It "should" work just fine. It does the same thing. I also have a Gamepad its a Logitech Dual Action (which is problematic in itself) and it does it too..but it could just be...
Sorry for the double post, but I JUST updated my BIOS...it was in fact several updates behind.
I will run it for a couple days with the mouse plugged into my USB port. I'll get back to you guys whether that worked or not. THX!
Ok, so i plugged it back into my PS/2 port, and it works fine...none of that happened again. But still, I would like to use my USB port if i can.
Would a Bios update really do it?? I mean...my bios really isnt that old...maybe a year?
This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO annoying. So very very annoying.
I'll start with the basics:
My first mouse was the:
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer
My Current mouse is the:
Microsoft Intellimouse Optical
I am running WinXP Pro on:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
786 MB Ram
Here is the problem:
This started...
When I enabled guest last time, Win2k forced me to auto log on as Guest. So every time I started my computer I would be logged on as guest, I would have to log off, and log back on as me. The only way I this would happen is if I had guest disabled.
Wolluf - What I am trying to do, is let anyone access my computer on a LAN environment. This saturday I am going to a fairly large LAN party. And I want them to be able to access my shares. As I am going to be able to do to them. Now, I do not want to make a user name and pass for everyone. Nor...
