Ahh damn not sure, try the method i did above, it works well. I think that would be the "proper" way to do it too since clippling paths are pretty much universal. I think quark works very similar too. I never bothered to use them until now, didnt see what the difference was - but looks like...

I found another way around it too! - by actually using clipping paths properly. If you create a clipping path in photoshop, then save as a tiff, when you place it in indesign it will automatically using that clipping path, for the internal indesign clipping path. So...
