not really, mostly messages sent to common account names (admin, webmaster etc..) but also a few to old accounts no longer used that were exposed to robots ways back when people didnt't think much about posting email addresses on the web. so not on the scale of a dict attack.

thanks, thedaver. i figured it out by sheer accident. by increasing the softlimit from 6MB to 15MB (as per your guide) it started working. strange though, since open relay smtpd worked ok. i guess the checkpassword program uses some additional resources that pushed it over the limit.
