    Shaping tool not working - CD 9

    I'd been able to use the shaping tool with no problem until last week but now it won't work. I select an object, then I go to shaping----trim but nothing happens when I click on the object to be trimmed. Is their an "Options" option that might have turned it off?? Thanks,
