With Windows XP and Office XP - when I try to open an XLS attachment in Outlook, Excel starts but I get an Outlook error message "The system cannot find the specified file". No problems if I save the attachment and open it in Excel, and no problems opening Word documents.

I eventually got around the problem by logging in as "administrator" - this account has all necessary privileges. Now I'm left wondering why any other account with administrator privileges don't.

Thanks for replies. Not a workstation or part of a domain - standalone computer. Interesting thing just found is that if I try to access Group Policy, I get a "Snap-in failed to intitialise" message. That's a totally unknown area for me.

I'm logged in as an administrator but I'm getting error messages telling me I don't have privileges. For example, I cannot add a non P&P printer. I've tired adding a new user with administrator privileges but this new user has the same problems. Any clues where to look?
