A new system rebooting at random sounds like Windows XP simplification 'features.' Where in the past windows would display a BSOD and ask you to restart, win XP now restarts immediately on default. What you want to do is disable reboot on Blue Screen of Death so you can see the actual error...- sigmaphi

KDS Laptop upgrading to XP?
Hey Guys, I've been repairing a KDS Valiant 6380iPTD which was upgraded to Windows XP and had the same problem.
