I also received this problem before. What I found was that my motherboard did not support the Internet Explorer 5.5 with IE4 or IE5 updates from microsoft. So I uninstalled all IE4 and IE5 files using windows explorer. This solved my problem. I installed Internet Explorer 5.0 only.
