I got excited when I read your idea, It was one I hadn't thought of (actually I wasn't aware that it could be done that way). Unfortunately, it has the same problem as creating shortcuts the other ways. Great thinking, though.

OK, after much head-scratching looking for the security tabs, I realized that they only show up in NTFS files. The drive that my programs are on is not NTFS. I do have a large NTFS drive for video. Checked files on that drive and sure enough, the security tabs are there. So...
Greenage: All properties are OK. I even tried setting a new shortcut up manually just to be sure. Same Problem.
Syky: I set Full Control on. No improvement. Where do I find "allow inheritable permissins, etc"?

I installed a new program (Crazy Talk). When I try to start it from the Desktop Shortcut, I get a small "Restore Down" icon in the center of the desktop, instead of the program.
