    shadmac -- the issue was solved, but unfortunately it was by scraping the lab and starting over with production version (originally trying beta)of SMS 2003 - I'm still researching an issue with client push but all SMS service components are now functioning properly.

    yes -- I looked at that and even reinstalled to make sure (I've also run SMS restore and repair) -- luckily this is my test implementation lab, but can't get much in the way of testing done at this point.

    running SMS 2003 on windows 2003 server AD structure, at a holding point as SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER gives "Error Communicating with Component" under service manager - never polled.... any helpful hints would be appreciated! thanks
