Thanks for your response. I forgot to mention that my add-in is .xll file and was developed in C++ . I tried your example, but XL.OpenWorkbook() property could not be found.

Perhaps it is a little too late and you already know the answer, but try increasing 'Connect timeout' under Mysql Options. If you ranning a query over slow network, Mysql "thinks" that the query is too big when it waits long time for the results.
