    Clicking links to known file types causes the file to open up as text

    Greetings- Recently, I have run across a problem with IE6 (6.0.2600.0000). I am running on Win2k Pro sp2. When I click on links of known files types (like .pdf, .rtf, .doc, .xls) in my browser, I get "webpage" full of scrambled text which is the contents of the file. In other words...

    IE freezes for 30 seconds everytime new window is launched

    georgec- I have run across a fix for this kind of symptom in these very forums. Check this out: http://members.aol.com/axcel216/newtip21.htm#MI5S6F Search for "BROWSING SPEEDUP" and do what it says. I found it really makes a difference. :) -ogwul
