We have a Meridian Option 11 which is being upgraded.
The wish is Gig to the desk and price wise we can do this with the Nortel.
The nortel for an almost identical setup is about 50-60% the cost of the Cisco so any training can be covered by this...
We are looking at replacing our switch infrastructure (currently mix of cheep switches and Cisco 3560's)
we are looking to replace this with a more structured core/edge setup.
We have looked at
Cisco 3509's at the core with 3750's at the edge
and
Nortel 8310's with 4548's at the edge...
We use an application that uses Com+.
Vista does not come with this installed.
If we insatll XP then upgrade com+ remains and the app works fine. As you can understand this is not how we wish to procede.
Is there any way to install Com+ into Vista?
Do you have any info on the box?
IP address?
Any username or passwords?
If not then the only start point is to log in via the console and start from scratch.
This will make licencing the box hard unless you have a Checkpoint contract.
second option
In voyager each user will be set with a spicific shell option.
default admin user will be set to /bin/csh
All other users on creation will be set to /etc/cli.sh
Just change the other user to /bin/csh and this will start the users in the correct shell.

Microsoft doc on how to do this...
i can ssh into the box but cant remember the command to get into the normal shell

IPSO 4.0
A little rusty these days :)
is there an ip routing conflit between the two sites?
is the ip address used in c2 also routed elseware in c1?
does the pix and checkpoint in c1 know to route back to c2 or can it conflict?
The xcopy command uses
TCP 445 microsoft-ds
but you may need some extra ports if you have to authenticate
udp 137 nbname
udp 138 nbdatagram
udp 53 domain-udp
udp 88 kerberos_v5_UDP
best way to check
open up port 445 then look at the logs and see what other ports it is trying to open.
