Hi everyone,
I have a HP VA7110 disk array connected to a Windows 2000 Server.
At some time in the past the disks in the array have been accessible from 3 Red Hat Enterprise servers, but are now no longer available. By this I mean, booting up one of the 3 RHEL machines produces messages...
I need to migrate a production R11.5.9 instance on Solaris to a new server, and possibly, change the server hostname as well. What's the best (supported) way of doing this? All tiers on one server.
I'd prefer not to use adclone as there are problems even with cloning into a test instance, let...
Hi all,
When using Enterprise Manager to create a new user, I get
Error 446: Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation. (ODBC SQLState: 42000)
and cannot continue.
But I can use sp_adduser and sp_addlogin to do the job. Any ideas why EM gets this problem?
tia.
Well, it's happening during office hours now! And no user can use any application running off our 40+ production databases, each time for 20 mins.
Microsoft support suggest applying a hotfix 816840, which is not yet available for general distribution, just produces more diagnostics (ie...
Recently, no users could login to our SQL Server 2000 SP3 instance. sqlserver.exe was taking 100% cpu and I was seeing these messages in the error log,
The Scheduler 0 appears to be hung. SPID 75, ECID 0, UMS Context 0x398F5DB0.
After 20 mins, the problem mysteriously corrected itself and...
After installing a Store Edge DDS4 external tape drive into a brand-new out of the box v280r running Solaris 8, I'm getting this in /var/adm/messages:
[ID 961923 daemon.error] WARNING: Device PS1 failure detected by sensor PS1_FAULT_SENSOR
Any ideas what's causing this?
Also, the scsi id at...
Hi,
I'm installing a 32GB disk and plan to use cplv to copy logical volumes in existing 8GB disks into the new one. The volume group built on the 8GB disks have PP Size = 16MB. The new disk will be put into a new vg with a larger PP size (not sure, perhaps 32MB).
Is it possible to cplv -e lv1...
Not entirely off - topic. I use "sum" on Solaris to checksum files between production and standby instance:
NAME
sum - print checksum and block count for a file
SYNOPSIS
sum [-r] [file...]
e.g.
$ sum control.ctl
21182 491 control.ctl
...and views as before, the new trigger is,
create trigger abtrig on ab instead of insert
as
begin
begin tran T1
insert into a
select * from inserted where
datepart(wk,logtime)=1 OR datepart(wk,logtime)=2
insert into b
select * from inserted where...
Thanks sguslan! Your suggestion works - remove the commit transaction and the batch update goes through.
Would appreciate any tips on commit/rollback in sql server triggers.
...clientusername,logtime FROM a
UNION ALL
SELECT clientusername,logtime FROM b
create trigger abtrig on ab instead of insert
as
if exists( select * from inserted where datepart(wk, logtime) >4)
begin
raiserror('Bad record', 16,1)
rollback transaction
end
else

How can I stop the transaction log of our ASA 7.5 database from getting larger all the time? The timestamp in our .db file is unchaged since startup, only the .log file seems to be updated. Is this normal? The log file (123MB) is now larger than the db file (92MB). We do not shutdown for...
We are running ASA 7 with database server and some end-user clients on separate networks with a router between them. Our network admin does not allow the router to propogate udp broadcasts, so none of the clients in the separate network can find the server. (dbisqlg -> SQL -> Connect ->...
There is supposed to be a switch on the backplane of the H50 to which all the disks are connected. If this switch is set to "low", the new disk might create scsi address conflicts. If reset to "high", the existing disk addresses will be changed (from 0-4 to the 8-13 range)...
...into the system ("because the high bit in the scsi id is not set"). How can I verify this?
Currently I have,
# lscfg -l scsi*
DEVICE LOCATION DESCRIPTION
scsi1 30-58 Wide SCSI I/O Controller
scsi0 10-60...
Yes, mklvcopy without the -k left the LV state=open/stale (should have checked the man page!). syncvg took 20min for the 9GB disk and changed it to open/syncd. Thanks for all the suggestions - the disk swap was sucessfull.
How long does it take to spin down a 10,000rpm disk? The green led...
Yes, the disks are SCSI, not SSA.
I was told that the mklvcopy would automatically sync the mirrored copies; how can I verify this?
The jfs log for this volume group is on another mirrored disk. Unfortunately no more free pp's to make a 3rd copy of the jfs log.
