I think in XP if you select my computer then right click on the A: drive and select format there is an option to make a dos boot disk. Atleast XP pro has this option. I am not in front of an XP machine at the moment to verify but I remember seeing it.
After you make a start up disk and before you wipe the drive, make sure that "format.com" is actually on the start up disk. This file is not included when 98 makes a start up disk so you will need to copy it over to the disk or have your 98 cd available.
Ok, thanks. I will ask a couple basics. What should I use for memory? What video card would be good? What are the front panel codes?
The memory and video card were missing from the machine so I have no idea what to use!!
Thanks again.
Hi, sorry if this is not quit the right spot for this post! I have been given an IBM power pc 604e and need to find a site or forum that is technical in nature.
Thanks for any info.
Thanks, looks like a handy program. Actually though this machine does not run at the moment. It needs memory and a video card. Pluss it would be nice to find a list of the front panel codes during boot.
Thanks again.
Thanks for the info. I have already been there and tried the recomended procedures to no avail. We are a service center for Lexmak and HP and I was hoping to get some more technical info (since I am unfamiliar with this printer) on the error to dig a bit deeper into the problem.
Thanks again.
