That could a number of things... Do you have a VPN concentrator??? We had a similar problem with ours?? Ended up being an DNS issue and our Proxy Setting???? Are you coming in on a VPN Client??? If so, you will need to make sure the dialup settings have the proxy detail... Give me some more...
I had the same problem, however I needed to shutdown/restart my server, locally and remotely, so I wrote a little shutdown/restart batch file, which works a treat, i can forward you the info if you like.
