Problem in BOE 11 with Access reports

Turk I think that is the problem, as a test I put the Access db on my local drive and the report works fine from there, thanks, I shall now wrestle with the permissions monkey.. If more than 1 goose are geese, why aren't more than 1 moose meese?? [censored][censored][censored]

Problem in BOE 11 with Access reports

Thanks Synapse, I used UNC, I also tried creating a DSN and used that, also tried putting the connection string directly in the report, tried ODBC and OLEDB, all methods work in CR just not in BOE, even when I tell it to prompt to login it won't accept it...aggravating! If more than 1 goose are...

Problem in BOE 11 with Access reports

I usually run reports against DB2 or SQL Server, all work great, but am trying to do one against Access now, it runs fine in the CR designer but when I publish it it either fails the login or asks for it, I put in "admin" for the user, no password, as that is how the Access db is set up and...

Future of Unix because of Linux

Khz I really don't care that much about it dude sorry, but I can tell you that no banks or insurance companies are using a freeware os that relies on hacks who don't get paid for fixes, but as others have said it's great for blogs and chat sites, that accounts for most of the installed numbers...

    Storm Clouds on the horizon

concept/process" Sounds good but what if you're no good at the process part? Good coders are important otherwise the best concepts in the world will go nowhere, and there are many kinds of coders. Concept is the easy part, then somebody's gotta make it happen. If more than 1 goose are geese...

How do you concentrate on more than one thing?

I'm kind of "aware" of all the things I work on at once on some sort of instinctual level, it's not a conscience thing, sometimes I'm aware that I'm not even really thinking about what I'm doing so much as doing it by "feel". I know that sounds weird, I think it just comes from having done it...

Future of Unix because of Linux

Khz you seem to think that because you're not having problems with it nobody else can? People complain about Windows all the time yet my 2003 servers are running heavy duty apps all day every day with no problems, we never reboot unless it's for an upgrade, yet I know there are people out there...

    (Un)Qualified People

Nobody can top my incompetence story: we had a programmer who didn't know how to cut and paste, no lie/exaggeration. She's in real estate now. If more than 1 goose are geese, why aren't more than 1 moose meese?? [censored][censored][censored]

Future of Unix because of Linux

Tarwn, yes but as I like to say, it's the carpenter not the toolbox, or it's the driver not the car, I can drive a Mercedes into a tree just as well as a Ford. Bad code can bring even an AS400 to its knees. We run "industrial strength" apps on win 2003 with no problems at all, but the code is...

    Deadbeats

Gooser, unfortunately I have to agree, we have a real deadbeat here who does nothing but also does not break anything. The worst are the ones who know just enough to be dangerous and are out to prove themselves.. If more than 1 goose are geese, why aren't more than 1 moose meese...

Future of Unix because of Linux

Tarwn, understood, but there is a big difference between a server running static web pages or a blog and one that runs critical database-intensive apps that a company's bottom line depends on, my point is that when one is looking at installed numbers to make decisions one should look at the...

    Why C# over VB

I use both but to me VB just seems so much easier to write and read, it "makes sense" when you look at it, with C# I seem to have to look much harder at the code to see what it's doing, it's less verbose but I have to spend more time on it. I would love to use VBScript on the client side too but...

    Skilled Worker Shortage

Degrees and certs are meaningless in IT imo, as far as actual talent/performance goes, if someone is talentless they will not help, but they may help you get hired, that is their only value IMHO. If more than 1 goose are geese, why aren't more than 1 moose meese?? [censored][censored][censored]

    Skilled Worker Shortage

I would rather have a person who can figure out new things and can adapt to new situations than somebody who has A, B, and C listed on their resumes. I have been doing this for 10 years and am constantly learning new skills, nobody can know everything when they walk through the door, to expect...

    Skilled Worker Shortage

I know that where I live now (Florida) there is definitely a shortage, we always have a hell of a time finding good people, but in other parts of the country I have lived this was not the case, in Colorado for example there were plenty of qualified candidates. I think it's a regional issue. If...
