I just installed Win98 on my Compaq Presario 1260 laptop but after the third restart during setup it gives me the following error: Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. C:\WINDOWS\system\vmm32.vxd: Missing/unable to load. What does this mean ? It came with the original...- bearhugs28

modem disabled on laptop ?
I upgraded my Compaq laptop from Win98 to Win 2000 but ever since the installation i can't get the modem to work. It's a buil in modem wich worked fine under Win98 but Win2000 disabled it in the Bios ??? What can i do about this ? Thanks, Bert- bearhugs28
