No sound from my modem - WIN98
I had the same. The modem somehow picked up an old or unsuitable driver probably from Windows .CAB. I removed the modem using Device Manager and re-installed being careful to use the drivers that came with the modem. The sound is back.- Starscreen

Wave Mute is checked on every Windows start/restart
I have un-installed and re-installed dozens of programs, checked all lines an win.ini & system.ini & the Registry. I can't find what mutes my wave volume.- Starscreen
