If he wants to automate this process it would be best to place it in a logon script and just and lines to check for the bad key, if exist then goto batch, if not then end.
Which database are you trying to restore? If the Master then it must be started in single user mode. If other database then you probabely have the dile opened. Stop any other service which use the database you are tryingto backup.
You can wite a simple batch file to copy the folders and append or verwrite as you see fit. Or you can also use add on tools.
Making an MSDE Backup
You should make regular backups of your MSDE database in case of server failure.
To Backup MSDE:
1. Shut down ListManager. If ListManager...
If you are using SQL server then use the databse copy or do a back up and restore of the database you are trying to move. You can also create the database and import the data from your original database to the target database.
You should schedule a backup and set it to truncate on checkpoint. Otherwise the T-logs can grow ad grow disproportionately to the point of filling up your harddrive in no time.
