    Yes Jim it is an external modem Microcom Deskporte 28.8s. when you use fax software on Comm1 it works perfectly.

    Comm 1 is set for modem, and in win 98 user can use fax send and receive but when she uses Vbdos Application the Above error is produced. Can you please help. Can there be a problem running a 16bit application or some other software is holding the comm port to itself. Earnesto

    We are having an application written in VB3 for Dos. Its been working fine. But after some clients upgraded their PC , Win98 is introduced and suddenly. Problems started. Com port not available, software hangs. Please help.

    Executable File with MSComm32 produces Error Message

    Error Message " component 'mscomm32.oct' or one of its components not currently registered: a file is missing or invalid". On my PC if run the same exe does not give error but on other PC that does not have VB6 produces the above error. How can i deploy corectly ?

    Yes, it works perfectly on slower PC. 333 Mhz -550. We have specifically tested it on 700 Mhz and it wont establish Connection.
