Hey guys.....as it turns out, it was the video card which caused this problem. I was going to change my mobo but bought a cheap video card just to see......and voila, problem solved. I brought back the cheap video card and bought an ATI X1650 and RMA'd the X700 back to AMD for replacement...
Thanks for all of your help with this guys, HalComps got the problem bang on, who would have ever guessed it was one of the pin connectors to the MOBO!?!?!?

Actually the first thing I did was to pull out the hardware (GFX card) and check & clean the pins...I was looking for dust or corrosion. Everything looks good and the 300W power supply has always been sufficient in the past...ATI recommends 300W or more. The card is not...
