IP sets loosing Ext info after Primary CM Failover

Have cm version 8.2, with redundant core servers, and redundant ESS servers. Anytime we either failover to the redundant core server, or the ESS site, we have any number of ip phones (h.323) that default back to the login screen. During the failover transition some phones will display a prompt to Reset the phone. if pressed, this will lead to the phone asking for a login. we dont believe this is the only thing that causes that, as it happens in areas that are not open during the failover.

any ideas on why that happens, and how to keep it from happening? would love for them not to display the prompt to Reset the phone either.

thanks!

Are all the handsets in the same VLAN ( L2 network) as the Duplex CM?

none of the phones will be on the same vlan as the core cm servers. they are spread out over multiple sites. we have checked the ip network regions and made sure the backup servers are in the correct order.

this doesnt happen on all phones at a site, only a few. so, doesnt seem specific to that

The phones cache the security code on the station form. That's the password they login with. If that's not working, maybe there's a mismatch on the main CM and the ESS/LSP. If you list survivable, do you see translations updated as recently as yesterday? Maybe you've got expired certificates on your CM that's causing the translations to not sync and you've changed a few passwords and those didn't work on the ESS. Just a thought.

thanks, all ess's have updated translation files every night. passwords almost never change on phones.
