Hi Everyone,

How can I make 4 extensions ring at the same time on Nec 9100? No matter which extension is called, any of the 4 extensions will be able to answer the call when they pick up the phone.

Thanks For Help

You can either create a virtual station and give it a call appearances on all four phones. Make that button ring on each phone 15.09 and put an in-skin voicemail button on each of the phones. Or you can designate one of the extensions as the master of the group and give each phone a button for that extension. Still need to go to 15.09 to make the button ring on the phone where it appears. Voila

or setup a department group add all your extensions and away you go. I prefer the Virtual Extension ring although this method does not work with SLT or IP Dect.

The big problem with that is, the extensions in the Department Group cannot have their own VM box, can't forward out of a Department Group.

Ya just create virtual ext of the real ext numbers on buttons above your physical phone and add ringing. It's seemless.

Guys, I looked at this and decided it couldn't be done due to a requirement all proposed solutions can't handle.....

"No matter which extension is called, any of the 4 extensions will be able to answer the call when they pick up the phone."

Am I missing something?

I think @CoralTech came closest but the issue with that solution is using virtuals moves the extension numbers off the actual phones so calling other extensions will display the wrong numbers.

Sorry, not understanding this, how do you have the extension numbers on virtuals and on the physical extensions at the same time?

You have always been able to use VE for real extensions. They used to be called call coverage keys before NEC took over and renamed stuff on the 8100.

So for example:

Real ext is 400 the key would be *03 400 adjust ringing as needed.

So on ext 400 401 402 (these are 24 button phones) on buttons 25 26 you would put on ext 400 *03 401 and *03 402. Just follow that.

I've never come across that before, I will have to investigate further. Its not surprising really as I worked for NEC and we never touched the smaller systems, they were left to distributors I worked on IPS and up. It's only the last maybe 10 years I've been doing SV and SL and there is a lot I never got told about!

I just realised I've been on Tek Tips for 20 years!!!!!!
