Sending Generic name to external outgoing calls

Hi all, I want to send a generic name out to Outgoing calls (Like Company name), can we add any such info on trunk or in system features in CM, I came across few articles which suggest if you make changes to system-parameters (USNI calling name page 8) and on trunk group (send name page 3). Trunks are PRI and CM version is 8

Special Application 8096 does what you want. You should be able to enable it with "change system special". It adds fields in the ISDN trunk group form to overwrite name and/or number going out to the PSTN.

Hi, not sure what @kyle555 was referring to as I don't see SA8096 in the 2023 version of the CM special applications PDF. However, a lot of the SAs have been mainstreamed in the later CM releases. But regardless, be sure and check with your trunk vendor as most of them default to throwing away any name data received from the PBX. They might want to charge you more (or not) for enabling the option to pass the name data you send to them on your PRI. Also, I've seen cases where if you do send a name the call will fail altogether because the trunk vendor wasn't set up to receive/handle it.

CM: SA9086 Mask CLI on PSTN Calls

Problem Clarification

This document provides information on SA9086 Mask CLI on PSTN Calls.

Cause

SA9086 must be enabled in order to adjust the caller ID for all outgoing PSTN calls.

Solution

SA9086 allows replacing the station name and number with an administrable string (which can be name of the enterprise) and number of up to maximum 15 characters on an outgoing PSTN call when enabled. For internal calls, i.e. trunks that don't have this feature administered, the called party will see the name/number of the calling party.
New fields 'Replacement Name' and 'Replacement Number' should be administered on the trunk-group form where the user can administer their desirable 15 character string to be displayed on the called party. These fields can be administered only when the Group Type: for the trunk group is an isdn with any carrier medium.

SA9086- Mask CLI on PSTN Calls

Feature Description

SA9086 allows replacing the station name and number with an administrable string (which can be name of the enterprise) and number of up to maximum 15 characters on an outgoing PSTN call when enabled. For internal calls i.e. trunks that don’t have this feature administered the called party will see the name/number of the calling party.

New fields “Replacement Name” and “Replacement Number” should be administered on the trunk-group form where the customer can administer his desirable 15 character string to be displayed on the called party. These fields can be administered only when the Group Type: for the trunk group is an isdn with any carrier medium.

Feature Functionality

A.Replace the calling party Name and Number with the required string.

  1. Go to system-parameters special applications page 9 and verify (SA9086) - Mask CLI on PSTN Calls? is set to Y
  2. Go to the 4th page of any isdn trunk group from by executing the command “change trunk group x” and administer the “Replacement Name” and “Replacement Number” fields properly.

3. Make an outgoing trunk call and verify that the called party displays the strings administered in the Replacement Name and Number fields on the trunk group form instead of the calling party Name and Number.

B.] The feature will function as per the below table:

A= Administered

NA=Not Administered

Calling NameCalling NumberReplacement NameReplacement NumberResulting displays
Name
Number
AANANACalling NameCalling Number
AAANAReplacement NameCalling Number
AANAACalling NameReplacement Number
AAAAReplacement NameReplacement Number

C.] Interaction with Voicemail Adjunct.

Voicemail Adjuncts rely upon the Calling Party Number/Name in order to processing the call so it is recommended to keep the Replacement Name and Replacement Number fields blank on the trunk connecting to the Voicemail Adjunct/MM.

d.] Important Feature Interactions.

Following features override SA9086 that is they have higher precedence than SA9086.

1) CPN Block/Unblock

2.) E911/Emergency calls

Feature Administration

Execute “change system-parameters special-applications” and change (SA9086) – Mask CLI on PSTN Calls? to “y”
