In the restore job, you have the wrong path specified to restore to. Check the "Restore As" field under the Options tab, and set it to your ~/DATA directory.

thanks lawnboy

i will have a look at it when i get to the office in the morning.

much appreciated

hiya

i have tried this, but still no go. (btw, SQL 2000 I am using)

cant understand what i am doing wrong.

i was given a database on a usb drive. i am trying to restore it to my existing server 2000 (basically just copy the whole database to my database). When I go choose the media and the .bak file, it does not want to restore into the database i choose.

As a test i backed up a small databae and tried restoring it, works fine, as long as it restores from the location the .bak was made, but if i move this .bak to another location, eg. different hdd or removable media, then try restore it, no go.

Am very confused.

ok, all sorted, youwere correct lawnboy.

thanks for the help.
