Can't type anything into the console

There are 2 cabinets connected together, however the other cabinet does not have any of the serial ports on it.

Can't type anything into the console

I haven't tried the Port 2 cable yet as I'm not sure exactly where it is connecting too. I believe another server we have, but not sure. I'm not sure what setting is missing in Procomm, but I think I said I also can not type when using hyperterminal either. It's weird that all of the sudden the...

Can't type anything into the console

We've tested the octopus cable and verified it's functional. What is the female serial port on the main card, below where the octopus cable connects, for? Is it the same thing as the male port? Also, how can we test if the System Core card is bad? Would the whole system be down if it was bad?

Can't type anything into the console

The port is appearing to work fine, I even used another laptop to verify the same issues. I've noticed however that sometimes I can type, however nothing appears and it only lets me type modem commands such as "AT" and when I press enter, OK appears. But like I said, nothing I type actually...

Can't type anything into the console

Yes, I have that exact setup, however I still can not type anything even when plugged into PORT 0, nor am I sure it is connected. Everytime I attempt to connect the direct connect blinks and beeps at me 3 times. The CD and CTS lights are lit up in procomm, so I assume that means it is connected?

Can't type anything into the console

Yes, I've tried with and without one of those.

Can't type anything into the console

I've rebooted the system numerous times and it's still the same. I've tried hooking up various lines, but cannot get connected to it on my laptop(s). The board has 2 serial connectors (one male/one female) that I assume is used for the console. The Male has the octopus connector coming out of...

Can't type anything into the console

Ok by default I hook in using port 1. Port 0 cable wasn't connected to anything. I connected the Port 0 cable to the back of my laptop, and installed the Com3 port into procomm as a modem. I attempted to connect doing this, and I still get the 3 flashing direct connect words, but I also get a...

Can't type anything into the console

Default on procomm was set at 9600, but I've tried everything I can from 1200 - 19200 and it always flashes. I am still connected though as I am still receiving AUD000 messages every now and then. What is "do an INI" and how do I do such a thing?

Can't type anything into the console

I am connecting to the same cable as always and I am using vt100 with N-8-1. However, I notice when I go to connect to it, the words "Direct Connect" in the bottom left of Procomm flash 3 times and then stop flashing. Is that normal as well?

Can't type anything into the console

If you are talking about the System Core slot, then yes it is set to 2400 baud. However the light on the card is not on, is this a problem? I'm not sure if it the led was ever lit. Also, there is a Man INT button on the card; what does this button do?

Can't type anything into the console

First off, I'm a huge newbie to this system and I know very little about the technical side of things. I recently joined this company as a network administrator and part of my responsibilities fall under the phone system, which has worked fine up until a week ago. Now when I attempt to...
