    The new battery works in the other laptop. I am going to let the system sit with no power for a week and see if that does anything. Like discgarge the caps.

    UPDATE: I checked the voltages leading up to the chip. They are a solid 3.0. So I know the chip see,s the voltage. I guess its looking more like a bad board. Any help would be great!

    This is a very common problem with thinkpads 600-600e. The cmos battery dies and you get an error code 00161 00163. I just received 2 thinkpads both are 600 and both have the same problem. I replace the battery in one, and it fixes it. I replace the battery in the other and I have a weird...
