On the operator call, we keep getting
RETURN 7176 (or some number that is one of our lines). The person on the other end is a prank caller.
What does it mean when it displays RETURN? The call was never picked up by the operator, i.e. they were not transfered, put on hold, etc. It is an...
Our phone rep contacted Avaya. Avaya says they are working on a release that will fix this problem, that they know it exists. No expected release date was given to us :-(

You can configure the merlin messaging system by using the RS-232 port or using the modem to configure the IP address of the UMA server. However, that is unnecessary since this setting can be changed using the "Merlin Messaging Release 3.0 Administration" application under the System...
I installed UMA on a Windows 2000 server (not a DC). Tried to connect to the Exchange 2003 server. No luck. I presume there must be a difference on connecting to Exchange 2000 and 2003, at least in the way UMA does it.
I am giving up for now as I have spent too much time on this. I will...
I got this to work flawless on Win2000 SP4 and Exchange 2000. The UMA service is running on the server with Exchange. The server with Exchange is a DC (don't think that should matter). Follow the directions in Avaya's PDF. Here it is in a nutshell:

What a pain. I've given up for tonight. Will fight it again tomorrow. I created an account specifically for the merlin UMA service (was using the exchange administrator account I had setup before). Gave it full rights to the exchange server by going into the exchange system manager...
Yeah the service is started and running. I am wondering if it has to do with permissions on the exchange user. Domain admins cannot normally (by default) access an exchange user's mailbox for security reasons. However, the service has to run as a server admin. So I wonder if I will have to...
Tommy,
All I needed was the *2. You're great. This saves us so much time! I knew there had to be a way to do that. Can you record the message that says press the buttons and end by pressing # that is on there by default?
Thanks again.
Matt
What is the directory listing used for on each extension? Can the system be setup to allow people to dial the first few letters of someone's last name and then transfer to that person's extension? Thanks.
