Is it possible that your object is to big? Then if that is the case work at 10:1 of actual size then magnify your graphics to 1:1 when your finished.
Another thing is if you have the Key Shift blocked you get the same problem. I don't know if your keyboard keys are stuck but worth a check...
You should make a registry cleanup.
Then try again. It is possible that some key's in registry are broken and when you call out a font you get an error.

From what i see you want to change the colors of the first image with the colors from the second. For this you don't need CorelDraw you need Corel PhotoPaint.
Whit a bit of work you can do that.

2.) outlines increase the file size of an EPS
3.) to many symbols increase the file size of the EPS because the EPS format dose not use the symbol definition so Corel Draw multiplies the object in the EPS at the number it was used in the CDR file...
To ungroup use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+U after selecting all your graphics. Hit CTRL+U a few times to be sure its all ungroup-ed.
But i don't recommend that instead use the Color Replacer Macro from http://www.oberonplace.com/vba/drawmacros/ColorReplacer/index.htm

Here is how you do it
Right Click on any palette property and go Palette->New
Choose location and name and type for your Palette
Click Save

On your New Palette click Options Box (located on the top of the palette) and choose Edit -> Palette Editor...
Try The PRIMO PDF driver to maybe it has that option
Or you could slice the Poster with Lens (magnify factor 1:1) with borders of 1 - 3 mm for overlap. Put each picture slice on a diferent page then export to PDF multipage.
If you print on InkJet type printers you can print borderless.
