Actually, your suspicions were somewhat correct. However, the free personal learning edition available at Autodesk's website gives the exact same error when trying to install. Too weird. I think that I am looking at a re-format here.

Tried that as well. Completely different version. Same story. Im running chkdsk on the drive right now. I'll update with the outcome of this. It is possible that the same file keeps getting written to a bad sector, although, unlikely considering how many times it has been re-written.

The shortcut key for a new window in IE is ctrl+n, so, maybe your N key is stuck down. Try with another keyboard and let me know how that works out. Also, if you have a USB keyboard, try another USB port as that one may be receiving bad signals.
